I have been neglecting you, dear readers. I hope you’ll forgive me. I’ve got a lot of books to tell you about, and in the interest of actually completing my reviews, I think they might be a little more concise. But that will just give you more time to read the books!
Lots of people love Isabel Allende and read everything she writes. I’ve read several of her books, but they’ve never inspired that sort of devotion in me. However, The Japanese Lover was so charming that I would encourage you to give it a shot if you’re like me and aren’t swayed by the author alone.
This is an exquisitely woven story of a love that stretches over generations. Change is inevitable, but the love of these characters remains constant throughout. The story is not too saccharine, just sweet enough. I think it will be a nice way to spend a cold weekend when it’s released in early November.
I’d love to know if you’ve ever read any of Allende’s work and whether you’re a devotee or not. Let me know in the comments!
This book was provided to me for review by the publisher.
